From system implementation and the use of existing learning content to data protection, hosting, and support: here you will find answers to key questions about using AcademyMaker as a learning management system.
AcademyMaker enables companies and organisations to provide, manage, and evaluate online learning offerings for internal and external audiences. The platform is suitable for large-scale projects with tens of thousands of users as well as smaller and mid-sized projects with 100 to 1,000 participants.
Organisations from all industries, public authorities, academies, and training departments can use AcademyMaker to organise continuing education for employees – as well as to deliver targeted learning programmes for smaller internal or external audiences, such as product training for trade partners, leadership development programmes, or learning portals for apprentices.
The implementation effort depends primarily on whether you are starting fresh or replacing existing systems and processes. A greenfield start is usually possible on very short notice. For more complex scenarios involving legacy systems or existing data, we assess together which requirements, stakeholders, and technical conditions need to be taken into account.
On the client side, effort arises mainly where data needs to be migrated, interfaces need to be set up, or internal decisions about roles, approvals, and workflows need to be made. We typically handle the system setup and advise on the right configuration options promptly after the project is commissioned – in close collaboration with your team.
Launch is typically possible within a few days of your decision. Administrative roles require approximately two hours of training to work with AcademyMaker. For participants, the intuitive interface means that no training is usually required.
After launch, we are on hand to provide assistance – including through affordable support packages if needed. This lets you get started quickly, avoid lengthy onboarding phases, and still operate largely risk-free, knowing your team has expert guidance whenever required.
Yes. AcademyMaker is designed to scale with your organisation and your requirements. User numbers and the reflected organisational structure can be adjusted at any time – whether you start with a smaller audience or later want to extend the learning platform to additional departments, locations, or countries.
Functional and technical requirements can also be developed further as needed. Through individual customisation, we can adapt AcademyMaker to specific processes, target groups, or system landscapes. This means your learning platform is not limited to today's needs – it can evolve step by step alongside your learning and development strategy.
Yes. Existing learning content in SCORM format can be imported into AcademyMaker and delivered via the learning platform. This allows you to continue using your existing e-learning materials and integrate them into your new learning environment.
Together we assess which content should be migrated and how it can be meaningfully incorporated into your (potentially new) course structure.
Yes. AcademyMaker is designed for integration into existing system landscapes. For authentication, we support Single Sign-On via the common standards SAML 2.0 and OpenID Connect, connecting solutions such as Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory/LDAP, or existing identity providers. Users and groups can be provisioned via SCIM or automated CSV import from HR or directory systems, so that accounts and permissions do not need to be maintained in two places. Manual upload via CSV or Excel is also available.
Via a documented REST API, AcademyMaker can also be connected to virtually any third-party system – such as SAP, HR suites, or reporting/BI tools. Together we assess which systems should be connected and which solution is technically sound, secure, and sustainably maintainable for your organisation.
X-CELL stands out above all through reliability, experience, and the ability to deliver even complex requirements successfully. Since 2002, we have completed many hundreds of projects together with clients from a wide range of industries – from straightforward software implementations to demanding custom software adaptations and integration projects.
Our commitment is simple: we deliver on our promises. And when something unexpected arises, we communicate early, clearly, and with a focus on solutions. This is precisely what our clients value most about working with us: the reassuring confidence that their project is in good hands.
We excel particularly where standard solutions fall short: for individual requirements, complex system landscapes, demanding target groups, or business-critical learning projects.
Data protection in AcademyMaker is not an afterthought – it is an integral part of the system concept from the outset. All processes are designed to be GDPR-compliant and follow the principle of data minimisation: only the data that is genuinely required for a given purpose is stored.
Wherever possible, data is processed in anonymised or aggregated form. This allows relevant information to be used without unnecessarily retaining personal data. For us, data protection does not end with the software – it also encompasses operations. That is why we host exclusively in Germany and can also implement on-premise scenarios where required.
Even after go-live, you receive competent support and advice from people with years of experience in our solutions and the requirements of modern learning organisations. Depending on your internal team's experience, our starter packages allow you to cover all the support you need during the first three or six months at a flat rate – giving you reliable assistance without financial risk.
Beyond that, we help you get the most out of AcademyMaker – with training, consultancy, and recommendations tailored to your processes, goals, and learning strategy.
